As a
church, it is necessary to set forth our fundamental beliefs (also
known as TENETS OF FAITH) which, of course, may not be quite
different from what other Pentecostals all over the globe believe.
They are:-
1. THE SCRIPTURE IS INSPIRED
We believe that the Bible is the inspired and only infallible and authoritative written word of God (2nd Timothy 3:15-17, 2nd Peter 1:20,21).
2. THE ONE TRUE GOD AND THE TRINITY
We believe that there is one true God (Deut. 6:14; Isaiah 43:10; 1st Timothy
2:5), eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son and
God the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19; Luke 3:22; 2nd Corinth 13:14).
3. THE DEITY OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST
The word DEITY means God. So we believe that Jesus Christ is God. We believe
in His virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14; Matt. 1:23; Luke 1:27), His sinless life
(Matt. 27:19-24; Heb. 4:15), His miracles (Isa.4:12), His vicarious
and atoning death (Isaiah 53). His bodily resurrection from the dead (Matt.
28:6, 7), His ascension to the right hand of the Father (Acts 1:11), and His
personal return to earth in power and in glory to rule for a thousand years
(Rev. 20:1-40)
4. THE FALL OF MAN
We believe that man was crated good and upright, and in the image and
likeness of God. However man by voluntary transgression fell and thereby
invited both physical and spiritual death, which is separation from God
(Gen. 1:26, 27; 2:17 3:6, Romans 5:12-19).
5. THE SALVATION OF MAN
We believe that man's only hope of redemption is through repentance and
faith in the precious blood of Jesus Christ (Eph. 2:8,9).
6. THE ORDINANCES OF THE CHURCH
We believe that there are two ordinances (orders, rules, statutes) left by
Jesus to be continued by the Church. They are: WATER BAPTISM by immersion
for all who repent and believe on Christ as Saviour and Lord (Matt. 28:19;
Mark 16:16; Romans 6:4), and HOLY COMMUNION, consisting of the elements -
bread and the fruit of the vine - symbolizing the broken body and the blood
of our Lord Jesus Christ (1st Cor. 11:26).
7. THE BAPTISM IN THE HOLY SPIRIT
We believe that all believers are entitled to, and should ardently expect
and earnestly seek the promise of the Father - The baptism in the Holy Ghost
and fire - according to the command of our Lord Jesus Christ (Luke 24:49;
Acts 1:4-8).
We believe that this experience is evidenced by the initial physical sign of
speaking with other tongues as the spirit gives utterances (Acts 2:4;
10:44-46; 19:6). We also believe in the manifestation of all the gifts of
the Holy Spirit according to 1st Cor. 12:1-31
8.
SANCTIFICATION
Sanctification is separation from that which is evil and dedication unto God
(Romans 12:1,2: 1st Thess. 5:23; Heb. 13:12). By the sanctifying power of
the Holy Spirit, the Christian is enabled to live a holy life (Heb. 12:14;
1st Peter 1:15, 16).
9. THE FIVE-FOLD MINISTRY
We believe that Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and Teachers are
God's gift to His body for the perfecting of the saints, the work of the
ministry and the edifying of the church (Eph. 4:11-14).
10. DIVINE HEALING
We believe in healing of the human body in answer to believing prayer as
provided for in the atonement. Divine healing is the integral part of the
gospel and is the privilege of the believers. (Isaiah 53:4,5; Matt. 8:16,17;
James 5:14; 1st Peter 2:24).
11. THE BLESSED HOPE
The resurrection of those who have died in Christ and their translation
together with those who are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord, is
the imminent and blessed hope of the Church, called the RAPTURE of the
Church (Romans 8:18-25; 1st Cor. 15:50-55; 1st Thess. 4:13-18; Titus 2:13).
12. THE MILLENNIAL REIGN OF CHRIST
We believe that the Rapture of the saints will be followed by the visible
return of Christ with His saints to reign on earth for a literal one
thousand year (Zechariah 14:5; Matt. 24:27,30: Rev.1:17;19:11; 20:1-6).
13. THE FINAL JUDGMENT
We believe that there will be a final judgment in which the wicked dead will
be raised and judged according to their works (matt. 25:46; Mark 9:43-48;
Rev. 19:20; 20:11-15, 21:8).
14. THE NEW HEAVEN AND THE NEW EARTH
We according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein
dwelleth righteousness”. (2 Peter 3:13; Rev. 21:2).
15. MODESTY
We believe that a Christian should not go to any extreme in all facets of
life especially in dressing (Proverbs 11:22 Living Bible; 1st Timothy
2:9,10; 1st Peter 3:3,4).
